Wall Springs Park brush fire -updated

UPDATE 2:59pm:  Firefighting crews got to the park at 7:30 a.m. in response to a report of fire. They found the 4-story, 3,000-square-foot tower fully engulfed in flames, said Palm Harbor Fire Rescue spokeswoman Liz Monforti.  The park will remain closed all day. Fire investigators and law enforcement officials will begin their investigation into the cause of the fire as soon as the immediate area around the tower cools down.

UPDATED 0900:  At 8:56am Command reported the situation as “Under Control” with a secured perimeter.

At 7:18 this morning Pinellas County Fire began scrambling multiple assets to WALL SPRINGS PARK in Palm Harbor and a reported brush fire. As of 8:07am, the fire has consumed the observation tower (pictured above) and is spreading through the brush.
